Partners

Viewpoint Community Media is committed to working in partnership with a number of other organisations, both local and national, and are open and keen to develop new ones across all sectors.  A list of our current partners can be found below.

Local

New CollegeNew College Logo

A partnership established in 2015, at the launch of the college’s new Creative Media HND course.  We will be supporting the course leader to deliver content on Social Action & Community Media; connecting students with the local community and with opportunities to work on real-life projects; as well as providing a platform for students’ finished productions.

Swindon ShuffleVCMPartners-Shuffle

Viewpoint began working with Swindon Shuffle in 2009 and to date we have jointly showcased over 30 Swindon bands and musicians performing their art live; and have conducted ‘Spotlight’ interviews with a smaller number. Together with Swindon Shuffle we aim to eventually feature every original musician or group in the area, to demonstrate the wealth of talent on offer locally.

The Swindon SocietySwindon Society

In 1991 we formed a partnership with the Swindon Society in recognition of our common interest in preserving and making available media artefacts from the town’s past.  The plan was to preserve and digitise relevant films and photographs and work towards making these publicly available.  One of the results is the ‘Then and Now’ section of the Viewpoint website.

The partnership was later joined by Richard Jefferies Society and the Then and Now  section of the Swindon Viewpoint website is jointly offered by these organisations.

National

Community Media AssociationCommunity Media Association logo

The CMA is the national organisation which supports and advocates on behalf of Community Media organisations across the UK – including radio, TV, print and online platforms.  Founded in 1983, it is a well-established body with close working relationships with Ofcom, DCMS and the BBC.  They also organise the annual Community Media Conference which moves around the country with varying themes each year.  Two of VCM’s Trustees sit on the Council of the CMA and are actively involved in helping shape support to the wider Community Media sector.
